Joe at the now-abandoned Audubon Park
children's wading pool (1994.) The boy's toe
on this bronze statue just barely touched the
rippling water when this pool was in use back
in the 1930s and 40s. The depth of this pool
went from the few inches seen here to about
two feet at the "deep end," with its fountains
and cascading waterfalls from one fountain
level to another.

when his mother
used to bring him to
this pool.
Dolores at the Sea Lions Pool at the Audubon Park Zoo (1994.) This is one of the
few structures remaining from the original Zoo of the 1930s. This photo shows
only about one-third of the Sea Lions Pool complex.
