Transylvania County, North Carolina, is a temperate-climate rain forest (second highest annual rainfall in the U.S)  The many waterfalls along the Little River shown here (and other County rivers) often run high and with tremendous volumes. Transylvania County is called "The Land of Waterfalls."  There are over 400 major ones. The County is 80% U.S. National Forest land.
