Jane Kean
We met and had a couple of chats with Jane, who was at Tipitina's the same
evening we were. She was a nice, friendly lady (now a senior citizen, but still
looking good.)
Jane Kean's frank and funny memoirs of a show business life (seen on the Internet)
are a loving, first-hand account of what it was like growing up among the Who's Who
of classic Hollywood and Broadway. She tells all - and tells it like it was. Jane
Kean, star of Broadway, films and television, has had a career that has spanned 60
years. From starring stage roles in Early to Bed, Call Me Mister and Ankles
Aweigh to such presitigious films as Disney's Pete's Dragon, Ms. Kean has lived
the show biz life. Having performed extensively with her comical sister Betty, Jane
is perhaps best known as Trixie in the award-winning television series, The
Honeymooners.
The fourth and final actress to play “Trixie Norton” on TV's The Honeymooners,
Jane Kean also starred with her sister, Betty Kean, as comedy duo of "Betty & Jane
Kean." Her film roles included the role of “Miss Taylor” in the film Pete's Dragon.
In the "Small World" department, Joe also met Art Carney in Washington, D.C., in
1962, and worked with him on a government publicity event. He, too, was a very
friendly person. Joe mentioned this to Jane and she talked a bit about Art and her
memories of him.
