The old Seven Oaks mansion
was only two miles from our
childhood home.  It stood, amid
woods and fields, only a few
hundred yards from the levee
and the river beyond, where we
would swim, after crossing the
plantation grounds.  The oil
storage tanks and the railroad
tracks were not there back in
those days.  The ruins of the old
mansion have since been
destroyed.  Nothing remains but
a historical marker sign (below.)
